A very famous dish among seafood lovers. Forget the local takeaway, these are so quick and easy to make at home. Try it yourself!

500g peeled prawns

2 egg yolks

2 teaspoons oil

2 tablespoons plain flour

½ green pepper, diced

½ yellow pepper, diced

1 carrot

1 can pineapple, diced

3 tablespoons tomato ketchup

Salt & pepper

2 tablespoons vinegar

Oil for frying


Cut the carrot into thin strips the size of matches.

Beat the egg yolks, oil and flour with enough water to make a thin batter.

Coat the prawns with this batter.

Heat the oil in a wok and deep fry the prawns until the golden colour.

Drain on absorbent paper and keep warm.

Heat the oil in a wok and add the vegetables, ketchup, canned pineapple pieces and syrup and bring to boil.

Add salt and pepper, dilute corn flour in a little water and add to the mixture to thicken.

Add the fried prawns and heat through.
